A group have been warned by Gloucestershire Police after trying to cross into the county from another Tier 4 area to visit a beauty spot.
The current Covid rules state clearly that anyone who is in a Tier 4 area is not permitted to leave their home except for very limited exceptions, including for work, for medical care and buying essential food or other items.
Where anyone leaves their home under these rules, they should not leave their area, with government advice saying people should be “avoiding travelling outside of your village, town or the part of a city where you live”.
Entering a Tier 4 area should be avoided unless where absolutely necessary.
Police said the group attempted to leave another Tier 4 area to enter Gloucestershire, which is also subject to the toughest restrictions, to visit Birdlip in the Cotswolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

The Specialist Operations team from Gloucestershire Police tweeted last night (January 2) that it had stopped the group, warned them about their responsibilities under Covid restrictions and sent them back.
They also suggested in the tweet that the car involved had been travelling without its lights on, on a day when ice and snow moved steadily across the county throughout the afternoon and evening.

“They have heeded the advice and are now returning home (with their headlights on).”
