Malaysian designer Datuk Bernard Chandran probably needs no introduction. The man has had a rather remarkable journey in fashion, from Malaysia to the world.
A new exhibition at Fahrenheit88 Kuala Lumpur, now offers an insight into his creative genius. It seeks to shine a spotlight on his designs spanning 34 years.
Named Dreams & Reality (running until Jan 15, 2021), it reportedly features some 150 creations – displayed over 16 rooms.
Visitors can look forward to workshops, fashion conversations and a masterclass with Bernard himself. Additionally, there is a bar and pop-up store for those looking to take home a piece of his design.
Despite all that, the focus will remain on the 52-year-old’s love for impeccable craftsmanship and tailoring.
Bernard has been dubbed “Malaysia’s fashion king”. So much so, his exquisite designs are appreciated by an international clientele – which even includes royalty.
Bernard’s career has taken him to the world’s fashion capitals. He studied and worked in Paris. He once had a boutique in London’s prestigious retail district Knightsbridge.
Throughout it all, he has produced womenswear and menswear, as well as the most dazzling couture pieces. He is also known for his exquisite Hari Raya collections.
